Jeffrey Rosen is the New Deputy Attorney General

On May 16, 2019, the United States confirmed Jeffrey A. Rosen to be the Deputy Attorney General by a vote of 52-45. Deputy Attorney General Rosen was sworn into his new position on May 22, 2019, succeeding former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

The Deputy Attorney General is the second highest ranking position at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), behind the U.S. Attorney General. The Deputy Attorney General may have influence over immigration matters in the jurisdiction of the DOJ . From 2017-2019, he served as the Deputy Secretary of Transportation, the second highest ranking position in that department. During the administration of former President George W. Bush, he served as General Counsel and Senior Policy Advisor for the White House Office of Management and Budget (2006-2009) and as General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Transportation (2003-2006). He has extensive legal experience in private practice. Deputy Attorney General Rosen has a law degree from Harvard Law School.
