On December 19, 2016, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published an interim rule amending the regulations governing the requirements and procedures for individuals seeking T nonimmigrant status. The interim rule was published in the Federal Register (FR) at 81 FR 92266, and it will take effect on January 18, 2017. The DHS explains that it is amending its regulations to conform to legislation enacted after its initial rule governing T nonimmigrant status was enacted in 2002. The public will have until February 17, 2017, to submit comments regarding the new rule.

We will update the website with information regarding the new rule and affected regulations.
