Introduction

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has Asylum Offices set up across the United States. Asylum Offices handle asylum interviews and interviews for suspension of deportation and special rule cancellation of removal under the Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA). Only asylum and NACARA suspension/cancellation interviews are scheduled at Asylum Offices by the USCIS. However, asylum applications are not filed at a USCIS Asylum Office but rather must be filed with a USCIS Service Center. In this article, we will list every Asylum Office and the counties each Asylum Office serves as of October 18, 2017. We will also list the Asylum Sub-Offices where interviews may also be scheduled for certain applicants.

Please note that all of the information is current as of October 18, 2017. Each part of this article summarizes information about the USCIS Asylum Offices from the USCIS website.1 Individuals should always consult the USCIS website for the official up-to-date information on the locations, operating hours, and addresses of each Asylum Office. Asylum applicants are strongly advised to consult with an experienced immigration attorney throughout the asylum process.

Conclusion

Asylum applicants waiting for their interviews should consult with the affirmative asylum scheduling bulletin to glean an idea of when their interviews may be scheduled. In general, the location of the interview will depend on where the asylum applicant lives. It is important to remember that affirmative asylum applications are filed with the appropriate USCIS Service Center, not with a USCIS Asylum Office. Before applying for asylum, an interested individual should consult with an experienced immigration attorney. Such an attorney will assess the case and, if he or she determines that the individual has a compelling case for asylum, may assist the individual throughout the complicated asylum application process. This is important as well for individuals who are considering seeking either asylum or, if eligible, NACARA cancellation in removal proceedings.

Please see our full selection of articles to learn more about asylum [see category] and our article on NACARA cancellation [see article] to learn more about related subjects.
