On September 10, 2018, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it had changed the filing location for the Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Permanent Residence [PDF version].
The Form I-751 was previously filed at the California Service Center and the Vermont Service Center. Under the new rules, petitioners will be required to send the Form I-751 to a USCIS Lockbox facility. The Form I-751 will now be adjudicated either by the California Service Center, Nebraska Service Center, Vermont Service Center, or Texas Service Center.
When filing the Form I-751 with a USCIS Lockbox facility, petitioners will be able to pay the Form I-751 filing fee “with a money order, personal check, cashier’s check, or credit card.” Up-to-date information about where to file the Form I-751 and the filing fee, as well as information for all other USCIS forms, can be found on the USCIS website.
The Form I-751 is used for applying to remove conditions on permanent resident status obtained through marriage to a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. An individual seeking the removal of conditions should consult with an experienced immigration attorney for case-specific guidance. We discuss related issues on our website’s sections on Family Immigration [see category] and Removal of Conditions [see category].
On June 11, 2018, the USCIS updated the receipt notices issued in conjunction with the Form I-751 and the Form I-829, Petition by Entrepreneur to Remove Conditions on Permanent Resident Status.
