On February 1, 2017, the Senate confirmed Rex Tillerson as the new Secretary of State by a vote of 56-43. Secretary Tillerson will now lead the United States Department of State (DOS), which is responsible for consular processing and visa issuance.

Secretary Tillerson has no previous experience in government. Tillerson had worked at The Exxon Company since 1975, and had served as the CEO of ExxonMobil since 2006.

We will update the website shortly with a full profile of Secretary Tillerson, and what he may mean for the future direction of the DOS in the immigration context.
