Form I-751 Must Now Be Sent to USCIS Lockbox Facility

On September 10, 2018, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it had changed the filing location for the Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Permanent Residence [PDF version].

The Form I-751 was previously filed at the California Service Center and the Vermont Service Center. Under the new rules, petitioners will be required to send the Form I-751 to a USCIS Lockbox facility. The Form I-751 will now be adjudicated either by the California Service Center, Nebraska Service Center, Vermont Service Center, or Texas Service Center.

When filing the Form I-751 with a USCIS Lockbox facility, petitioners will be able to pay the Form I-751 filing fee “with a money order, personal check, cashier's check, or credit card.” Up-to-date information about where to file the Form I-751 and the filing fee, as well as information for all other USCIS forms, can be found on the USCIS website.

The Form I-751 is used for applying to remove conditions on permanent resident status obtained through marriage to a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. An individual seeking the removal of conditions should consult with an experienced immigration attorney for case-specific guidance. On June 11, 2018, the USCIS updated the receipt notices issued in conjunction with the Form I-751 and the Form I-829, Petition by Entrepreneur to Remove Conditions on Permanent Resident Status.
