USCIS Receives Enough Petitions to Reach Additional Maximum 30,000 H2B Visas for Returning Workers Under FY 2019 Cap

On June 7, 2019, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it has received enough H2B petitions to reach the additional maximum 30,000 H2B visas that were made available for returning workers under the H2B cap for FY 2019.

18 New Immigration Judges Sworn in on May 10, 2019

On May 10, 2019, the Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR) held an investiture ceremony to swear in 18 new immigration judges.  One of the 18 new immigration judges will serve as an assistant chief immigration judge with supervisory responsibilities.  Each of the 18 new immigration judges was selected by Attorney General William Barr.  The 18 new immigration judges will serve on 9 immigration courts across the country.

Jeffrey Rosen is the New Deputy Attorney General

On May 16, 2019, the United States confirmed Jeffrey A. Rosen to be the Deputy Attorney General by a vote of 52-45. Deputy Attorney General Rosen was sworn into his new position on May 22, 2019, succeeding former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

Adoptions from Rwanda To Be Processed Under Hague Convention

On May 20, 2019, the U.S. Department of State (DOS) announced that the United States has determined that it will be able to process intercountry adoptions from Rwanda consistent with the Hague Adoption Convention.

EOIR Swears in 31 New IJs, Including 4 ACIJs, on March 18, 2019

On March 18, 2019, the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) held an investiture ceremony to swear in 31 new immigration judges. Four of the 31 new immigration judges are assistant chief immigration judges who will oversee six immigration courts. The other 27 immigration judges will serve across the country on 19 immigration courts.

16 New Immigration Judges Sworn in On November 16, 2018

On November 16, 2018, the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) swore in sixteen new Immigration Judges in an investiture ceremony to sit at nine immigration courts and immigration adjudication centers. The sixteen new immigration judges were appointed by former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions before he left his position. June 2019 Visa Bulletin

On May 9, 2019, the U.S. Department of State (DOS) released the Visa Bulletin for June 2019. On May 16, 2019, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) determined that adjustment of status applicants in the family-sponsored preferences must use the dates for filing in June 2019 while employment-based adjustment applicants must use the final action dates.
